Glasgow Herald The photographs of Lord Kelvin and Professor Rankine on page 9, and the accompanying information, are from an article in the Herald published to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the City of Glasgow. The article was titled, 'Glasgow 800 and the university's famous ten', and it was published on Saturday, 3 May 1975. Greenock Telegraph A local newspaper that has been consulted with great regularity. Its reports upon the business of the Greenock Licensing Court have been of particular importance. Glasgow University Archives Much of the information on George Dunlop's studies at Glasgow University, David Bigger's studies at Glasgow University, and Lauchlan Mitchell's Dunlop's studies at Glasgow University, was provided in two letters from Moira MacKay, Assistant Archivist, Glasgow University, to John M Dunlop (22 and 30 August 1995). James Campbell, Lauchlan Mitchell Dunlop's father-in-law, advertised his hotel in this journal and, simultaneously, provided readers with his immediate business antecedents. Wine and Spirit Gazette The London portion of James Riddell's career can be followed in the 'Trade Directory' that is part of this publication.
