Aslan

(MN, LWW, HHB, PC, VDT, SC, LB)

The great lion who is son of the Emperor over the sea. He is the constant guardian, protector and helper of Narnia and the children from this world who are called to Narnia's aid. It was Aslan who created Narnia by singing it into life. He also made an end to Narnia, two and a half thousand years later. He is the only character to appear in all seven Chronicles of Narnia.


Caspian, King/Prince

(PC, VDT, SC)

Prince Caspian is the son of King Caspian IX who was murdered by his brother Miraz. Prince Caspian is brought up by Miraz who assumed the throne first as Lord Protector and then King. Because King Miraz and Queen Prunaprismia lacked a son they reluctantly accepted Prince Caspian as heir apparent. However, Caspian is driven to flee his home when Prunaprismia gives birth to a son.


Giant Rumblebuffin

(LWW)

Giant Rumblebuffin was turned to stone by the White Witch in her house. Aslan revived him and the Giant was part of the army which defeated the White Witch at the fords of Beruna.


Giant Wimbleweather

(PC)

Giant Wimbleweather is part of Prince Caspian's army which fought against King Miraz.


Ginger

(LB)

Ginger was the scheming cat who allied himself with the Calormen captain, Rishda Tarkaan, to deceive the Narnians into thinking that Tashlan was in the Stable. As part of the plan he enters the Stable but is unexpectedly struck dumb by Tash. He flees Stable Hill, never to be seen again.


Glimfeather

(SC)

The loyal owl who meets Jill Pole and Eustace Scrubb and takes them to the Parliament of Owls. From there Eustace and Jill begin their journey to the north of Narnia.


Jadis

(MN, LWW)

Jadis is the last queen of Charn who wipes out the entire population by speaking the Deplorable Word. She then places herself under an enchanted sleep. Digory awakes Jadis and accidentally leads her back to London and then into the new land of Narnia. Many years later Jadis returns from the north as the White Witch and enslaves Narnia.

Jewel

A unicorn and King Tirian's closest friend. Involved in the last battle against the Calormenes.

Maugrim

(LWW)

The chief of the White Witch's secret police, Maugrim is killed in a fight with Peter Pevensie.


Miraz, King

(PC)

Miraz is the brother of King Caspian IX and uncle to Prince Caspian. He murders King Caspian and assumes the throne himself, first as Lord Protector and then as King. Miraz is murdered by the treacherous Lord Glozelle during his duel with King Peter.


Mr Tumnus

(LWW, HHB)

The faun who encounters Lucy in Lantern Waste and saves her from the White Witch. For this he is turned to stone but is revived by Aslan.


Nikabrik

(PC)

A sour black dwarf who enlists the help of a hag and werewolf to conjure black magic to defeat tyrannical King Miraz. He is defeated by Prince Caspian, Peter, Edmund, Dr Cornelius and Trufflehunter, and killed.


Pevensie, Edmund (1930 - 1949)

(LWW, HHB, PC, VDT, LB)

When we first meet Edmund he is rather a nasty child who lies about meeting Lucy in Narnia and joins the side of the White Witch. He soon discovers his mistake in joining the Witch's side. Aslan sends a rescue party for him and they seize Edmund just before the White Witch attempts to kill him. Later on Aslan dies for Edmund's treachery but comes back to life because of the "deeper magic before the dawn of time". We see a changed Edmund as he returns to Narnia to aid Caspian, and along with Lucy and Eustace accompanies King Caspian on the voyage of the Dawn Treader. This is his last adventure in Narnia. In 1949 he is killed along with the others in the railway accident, aged 19.

Pevensie, Lucy (1932 - 1949)

The youngest of the four Pevensie children, Lucy is the first to go through the Wardrobe into Narnia. She develops a very close relationship with Aslan. She accompanies King Caspian to the world's end in the Dawn Treader. This is her last adventure in Narnia. She dies in a railway accident during 1949.

Pevensie, Peter (1927 - 1949)

(LWW, PC, LB)

The High King over all the Kings in Narnia, Peter is the embodiment of chivalry and honour. He's the oldest member of the Pevensie children. On his first visit to Narnia he defeats and kills Maugrim and becomes Sir Peter Wolfsbane. On the second visit to Narnia he helps free Narnia from the rule of Miraz. He is told by Aslan that he would not return to Narnia. At this point Peter was 14 years old. We hear very little of Peter until 'The Last Battle' when he meets with King Tirian within the stable after dying in a serious railway accident.

Pevensie, Susan (1927 - 19??)

(LWW, HHB, PC)

Susan is the second eldest of the Pevensie children and after the four children are evacuated from London takes on the role of 'mother'. When Peter, Susan, Lucy, Mr Beaver and Mrs Beaver meet Father Christmas, he gives Susan a bow and arrow "which does not easily miss" and a magic horn which summons help where ever it is blown. It is Susan's magic horn which calls the Pevensie children back into Narnia to aid Prince Caspian against Miraz. Like Peter, this is Susan's last visit to Narnia. When Digory, Polly, Peter, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace and Jill die in a railway accident Susan is not with them. Peter explains that she is no longer a "friend of Narnia".

Puddleglum

(SC)

The rather gloomy companion of Eustace and Jill on their quest to the north of Narnia to rescue Prince Rilian from the Green Lady.


Reepicheep

(PC, VDT, LB)

Reepicheep is the chivalrous mouse whose tail was restored by Aslan after Prince Caspian's battle against Miraz. Three years later Reepicheep accompanies King Caspian to the end of the world on the Dawn Treader. When the ship turns back, Reepicheep crosses over to Aslan's country in his coricle. We meet Reepicheep again at the end of the Last Battle when he greets King Tirian, Eustace, Jill and the others at the gates of the garden.


Rilian, Prince

(SC)

The only son of King Caspian. The Green Lady abducts Prince Rilian in her plot to enslave Narnia. Eustace Scrubb, Jill Pole and Puddleglum kills the Green Lady and rescues the Prince.


Scrubb, Eustace (1933 - 1949)

(VDT, SC, LB)

Eustace is the Pevensie's abominable cousin, with whom Edmund and Lucy go to stay during the summer holidays. He is dragged into Narnia and accompanies King Caspian on the Dawn Treader to the end of the world. His meeting with Aslan has a lasting effect on him and he returns from Narnia a changed person. It is he who comforts Jill Pole after she has been bullied whereas a year before he would have been doing the bullying. They are called into Narnia by Aslan in order to rescue Prince Rilian. Eustace and Jill are called into Narnia once more to help King Tirian in Narnia's hour of greatest need. He is killed in 1949 as a result of a train crash.

Trumpkin

A honest red dwarf who initially does not believe in Aslan but changes his mind when he encounters the great lion. He becomes Lord Regent in Caspian's abscence when the latter sets off for the world's end.


White Witch

(MN, LWW)

Jadis or the White Witch enslaves Narnia for a hundred years, making it winter but never Christmas. The White Witch and her army is defeated at the battle of Beruna by Aslan.
