The Kilns is the house in which C.S.Lewis, W.H.Lewis and Joy Lewis nee Gresham lived.
Directions:
It is situated in Headington which is a suburb in the north-east of Oxford. Most buses that leave from High Street travel to Headington. The house can be found towards the end of Lewis Close. However be considerate! It is now home to students studying in Oxford. I believe that tours of the Kilns will be available at certain times.
C.S.Lewis lectured and researched at Magdalen College from 1925 - 1954.
Directions:
Magdalen College is within easy walk of the city centre. From Carfax (with Carfax Tower directly behind you) walk straight down High Street. Continue straight down this street. Magdalen College is situated on the left, before you cross Magdalen Bridge, opposite the Botanic Gardens. The College usually charges £2 entry fee. C.S.Lewis lived in New Building. Both C.S.Lewis' old rooms and Magdalen Tower are not open to the public.
The Trout is another pub in which C.S.Lewis and J.R.R.Tolkein met.
