I lived in Naples, Italy for 3 months during summer 2000... In late August I had to catch a 6:30AM flight from Rome. The day before my plane was departing, I took the train to Rome. So, I have only spent one day in Rome - a partial day at best, as I arrived late afternoon and was in a cab the following morning at 5:00AM.

Anyway, I spent the evening exploring the city and had some dinner. My brief time there was enough to convince me I like Rome better than Naples, no offense to those of you from Naples... I though the city was cleaner, safer, there was more to do, and a better selection of restaurants.

I only had about 4 hours of light to work with, and I didn't have time to check out the Vatican City (definitely next time), but still I saw enough to be "visually overwhelmed", particularly the ruins...
