JEANNE MAXEY REPLIES: I am descended from John M. through his son John J. (1807-1897) Buried with his wife Olivia in the old Wesleyan Cemetery, Cinn. Hamilton Co., OH.

I received from Alice Thorn a copy from a newspaper obit The Augusta Chronicle 30 Nov 1825 for John M. Wozencroft. Born in Radnor County, South Wales, England. Shipping at Liverpool and arrived in the US in 1806. Became a naturalized citizen in Hamilton Co., OH 15 Apr 1819. He had gone to the home of Dr. Jesse Morris, Columbia Co., GA requesting medical aid and died after languishing 23 days.

Also, I contacted the librarian in Augusta GA to try to find a grave-site
for John M. Woz in the area but she found none listed so perhaps he
was buried at the home of the doctor.

I am seeking information about the lineage of my grandfather, William Higginson Wolstencroft, who died in Glasgow in 1938 or 1939, and who was an insurance manager previously in Newcastle. He married in the late 1800s to Helen Maude ?? and had three children. My father who was born in 1900, plus one other brother whose name I do not know and who died in WW1, and a daughter, Helen, who eventually married in Glasgow to James Clarkson. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have just come-across a reference in the Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Passenger Lists of a John Wozencraft, Protestant, Farmer, Family of 3, arriving in Nova Scotia on the Ship "Winchelsea", in 1749.

I would be very interested to hear from any of his descendents e.g. in Canada and/or USA. Please contact me by clicking on the Reply Link above. Many thanks. (Thanks to Isaac Shiflett for your email)
