What is this site
about?
This site will be an
attempt to give you information on original
slash. Original slash fiction (or yaoi) is
fiction about or featuring a m/m sexual
relationship between original characters,
that is, not pertaining to any fandom. So if
this is not what you're here for or if you
have a problem with same sex relationships,
you're in the wrong place.
Why original slash?
Like so many slash readers, I got my
introduction to slash several years ago in
the X-Files fandom when, lucky for me, that
was a meeting place for the best slash
writers. When I started to lose interest due
to the waning quality of the show and the
departure of my favourite actors and fanfic
writers, I found myself losing interest in
slash altogether. I just could not get into
any other fandom. But then I found original
slash.
Very happy to have found something that
rekindled my interest in slash, I now
encountered a different problem. Where could
I find all those wonderful stories with
original characters? As a former X-phile I
was used to figuratively swimming in good
slash stories since it's a very prolific
fandom. But that's simply not the case with
stories featuring original characters.
I was lucky enough to find sites with whole
lists of slashy "professional"
books for me to read, but it sometimes
wasn't obvious to me why they would be
considered slash or exactly how much slash
content they contained. Other times I found
recommendations for books, but not where to
find them. But the most grueling part was
finding good online original slash. I found
those stories are very hard to find.
So this site will be about original slash with short reviews of books I've read (and where to find them, or perhaps discuss them), links to a lot of sites with original slash
fiction and links to other recommendation sites for both books and online writing.
This will be a growing project as I'm always on the lookout for the some of the better fic out there. So if you're aware of a writer, book or link that you think I'd be interested in, I'm always listening. In the mean time I think I've assembled enough links to some very good stories to keep you occupied for a while. But don't just take my word for it. By all means, explore! ;)
