
There has been a church recorded here since 1372. St.Andrew's size probably reflects the medieval importance of Tarring as a market town and a connection with Canterbury until 1845.The nave is Early English, the tower and chancel early perpendicular. The restoration of 1854 kept the Jacobean altar table and rails, misericords and a spiked screen.
The parish of Holy Trinity was formed in 1882 following the development of the Gratwicke Estate. Consecration took place in 1883, the tower and spire being completed in 1887. The Early English red brick design was by Henry E. Coe and S.Robinson. In 1978-1979 alterations were carried out to the interior by Kenneth C. Murrin.
Funded by subscription as part of West Worthing new town in 1873, the site given by the Heene Estate Land Co. The large brick and flint Early English design was by Scott & Hyed (Brighton). Tower with broached spire added in 1879, south transept in 1905. The Rectory rebuilt in 1958. St.Botolph's saw the introduction of High Church worship in Worthing.Patronage remained with Canterbury until 1930.
Steyne Gardens. An Early English design with tower in ragstone by John Wills of Derby. Opened in June 1900 by Mrs.J.Frampton and Mrs.A.G.Linfield. Furnishings were given by the Woolmer family and a parlour added in 1905. Interior altered in 1960.
West Worthing Baptist Church in South Street Tarring. Began in 1890 in St.Dunstans Road and then moved to the Canterbury Road Chapel designed by Resta W. Moore. This currently adjoins the present church built by Norman T. Myers and opened in 1938. The social center was added in 1988 on the right hand side. Pictured in April 2005
