Exchanging social skills for internet bills
This is the homepage of Kim Randell. As I have yet to figure out what exactly the purpose of the site is, it represents a random selection of my thoughts and interests rather than any coherent message or information resource. Anyway, onwards...
LOOK
- Some pictures, mostly of me, but also of my girlfriend Kate and various other bits'n'pieces.
- Some things I've made.
- Probably the prettiest photo I've ever taken: the sunset reflecting off the chrome-like nosecone of a propellor, high above the clouds.
- I took far, far too many pictures on my trip to Oz. Here are all of them.
LISTEN
I love music - but I'm going to try not to bore you with lists of all my favourite bands. Currently on heavy rotation: Soulwax's original and DJ stuff, dEUS' In a Bar, Under the Sea, some Beethoven piano sonatas, The Breeders' Title TK and the usual stacks of Radiohead (gorgeous Thom Yorke solos here). I recently saw Sigur Ros perform at the Bristol Anson Rooms, who were absolutely amazing; unfortunately their latest album, while nice enough, barely touches the live experience.
THINK
If you want to know about me, my bookmarks will probably tell you about more than
a self-indulgent description ever could. Please note that I don't advocate all or even many of the sites or opinions therein. The music section is especially non-indicative of my tastes - don't ask why.
I use the Opera browser, which is lovely and quick, but doesn't export bookmarks to HTML, so I've written a little Perlscript to convert an exported Opera bookmarks file to simple HTML. It handles nested folders with indentation, but ignores most other attributes like last visited and so on (although it reads them into variables which you can play with should you want to extend it). Programming projects:
- My Lava Lamp Animated Model Application (final year project for my degree) homepage.
- The Culture Globe.
- White Dwarf, a pool with planets demo I knocked up in 3 days. As such, it's near unplayable, and in need of serious tweaking. I'm currently trying to figure out adaptations which will make it, er, fun.
