19th October 2001 At long last Snatcher has been emulated - by Stéphane Dallongeville with his great emulator Gens. The version of the emulator that supports Snatcher is v1.20, which I recommend everyone should get now at : http://gens.consolemul.com. I have tested both the Sega-CD and Mega-CD versions of Snatcher and they both work. The game is emulated almost perfectly, although there are a few glitches with sound. An example is in the shooting range you hear bits of audio from other parts of the game. As well as this I have come across points in the game which take a little time to load - such as soon as the trailer ends and when you exit the turbocycle at the abandoned factory. Other than that its great - and perfectly playable. Stéphane deserves a lot of credit for all of his hard work. For information on how to get Gens to work visit http://gens.consolemul.com which has a link to a Gens manual. In order to emulate the Sega-CD/Mega-CD you will need the correct system bios - you can get these at the development page of the Sega-CD section at Eidolon's Inn, the URL for this is http://eidolon.psp.net. |
