The core of Kosmos is where all the tasks of the operating system are started, implemented, monitored and controlled. It can be referred to as the area nerve centre of the operating system. The Control Station is the actual user interface where you can control and adjust the operating systems functions and external programs which use the operating system. Functions of the Core of Kosmos include: - Startup: which programs you want to acticate on start-up. These include the ones to activate and operate the Computer Operating System. - BootScript - it is the actual script in what order to activate the programs and it also contains diagnostics if a problem occurs when booting. - BootProcedure - this is where you store the templates of what type of machine you want to use the KOSMOS Computer Operating System on. - Coremast - it is used to communicate to the various programs that use the operating system - Devices: - this is where you can write libraries for operating the various: Ports, Firewire, USB Slots, PCI and other accessories that you can add to the operating system. - Libraries: this is where you add the code to operate various accessories such as printers, programs for transferring digital camera data to the operating system. The OS would come with general universal templates as long as the accessories support it. Kosmos Computer FunctionalityKosmos would have been multi-tasking and to be able to be used as the core for a personal computer to a network computer. The idea was it could also be used for other types of devices such as mobile phones, set boxes and other gadgets. As new gadgets are created the operating system can be evolved to use it. The Operating System would have featured: Multi-Tasking: the os could run multiple programs at once without any glitches. Multi-Threading: various programs could run at the same time. In addition the OS would have the ability to work on multi-processors and to be able to efficiently control all the processing resources for maximum efficiency. The operating system would have the ability to work in a network. Either as one control station networked to various people or the people could use stand alone machines and all the power of the machines could be networked together to have more power than say one machine. If the second scenario was the case, then you could use less powerful machines to make a more powerful one. Unless you are doing massive mathematical equation problems, the average home user or business user would not use these functions. Is it possible to create it? Unfortunately it started as a dream computer operating system and has remained that way. I have added various ideas in how I would like it to be. The idea to call it Core was inspired by Lost in Space TV Show. In season 3 an episode showed the power house and they called it the core. So lets dream. Every so often I will expand on the ideas that I have mentioned. I also plan to write about other real operating systems as they evolve. I have many features which I would like to add. For the visual side please refer to the Control Station area which deals with the visual aspect of the OS. Please tell me features that you would like to see in this dream os. The kernal maybe be based on Linux since it is free! |
