"Leaving"
He struggled for that breath,
To say his final words,
Before he took his leave,
From his people and his world.
His sons and daughters gathered
Around his death bed,
Waiting tearfully beside him
For his last words to be said.
Do not weep for me, he began,
I had a wonderful life,
I knew the sweetest angel here,
Your Mother, my darling Wife.
I love you all dearly,
And this you each know
But I want to be with her now,
It's time for me to go.
My children, life can be described
As a feast fit for a king,
And when you first partake,
You want to taste everything.
But as you move along the table
Like a child in a candy store,
Although the feast is wonderful,
When full, you can eat no more.
So now my children listen,
Please, do not for me weep,
I had my fill of the wonderful feast,
And now I need to sleep.
