"Plain Brown Sparrow"
In the middle of the forest,
Lived a bird of paradise,
Her beauty so enthralling,
It made other birds look twice.
Exotic feathered males,
Came from far away,
To try and win her heart,
Each and every day.
One brown sparrow,
Watched sadly from his tree,
I can't compete he thought,
They are not as plain as me.
But he sang his little song,
About his deep love,
He sang it night and day,
From his branch above.
And although the lovely lady,
Would not let him know,
Gradually a fondness for him,
Began to build and grow.
The suitors for her love,
Everyday still came along,
But always in her heart,
She heard the sparrows song.
Others gave up easily,
And went upon there way,
But still the plain brown sparrow,
Sang love to her each day.
He had won her heart,
Without any fancy feathers,
His passionate love for her,
At last brought them together.
No other bird in the forest,
Could have loved her more,
Than this enduring little sparrow,
Who would not give up the war.
They stayed close together,
Happily in love for all their lives,
The plain brown sparrow,
And his bird of paradise.
