From September 2006 Children's Meeting will concentrate on a different theme every two months while retaining the basic structure of the last few years, with similar activities happening on each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sunday. These themes are based on Quaker testimonies and we hope that they will provide some continuity from week to week, and will help children and young people to explore issues of importance to Friends in a variety of ways.
The themes for 2006/2007 will be:
September and October: Peace
November and December: Contribution to the Christmas Entertainment (no coordinator yet)
January and February: Truth
March and April: Slavery
May and June: Simple Living
The monthly pattern is:
1st Sunday Children under 12 - historical perspective, Young People - discussion group organised by young people
2nd Sunday AAW organised by colour groups
3rd Sunday Children under 12 - contemporary issues, Young People - activity organised by children's committee
4th Sunday Children and Young People - arts and crafts
5th Sunday Children and Young People - music
Over the summer there are ad hoc activities, and the programme starts at the beginning of September.
