In the begining, there was Janne...

The first group formation of the Rasmus came in 1994  in Helsinki...Lauri met Eero is grade 3, who joined up with Pauli in junior high and Janne.  They performed their first time at their school in December of 1994.  They were known back then as Sputnik (later Antilla, and later Rasmus).

They were discovered by their manager Teja Kotilainen in a club called Oranssi and they immediately recorded some songs.

After their first single, "1st" was released in December 1995, the album "Peep" was released in May of 1996, which went gold.

They went on to make "Playboys", and "Hell of a tester".

In 2000, Janne left the group, and Aki Hakala, who was selling t shirts for the band became their new drummer, despite the warnings not to join.

After he joined "Hell of a Collection", "Into" and "Dead Letters" were made.  Also, the same year Aki joined, they changed their group name from "Rasmus" to "The Rasmus" because they kept being confused with a dj from Sweden.  And so was born The Rasmus!

The Rasmus today

Now, with their last album "Dead Letters", the Rasmus finally hit international market, touring where they have never toured before.  This all thanks to their smash hit world wide "In the shadows".  With a new look, and some new fans, their next album release should be their best effort yet.  Keep it up guys, we love you all and can't wait to hear more!!!
