At the Sheffest, Sheffield (Saturday 17th March 2001.)
Review by MetalMiss.

As my first gigging experience, I was lucky enough to join my friends at the Sheffest on Saturday the 17th of March. As it usually is when they go out, we were going to see a specific band, one of their favourites, Liquid Angel.

Despite what my friends have told me about the band in the past, and the research I had done via the brilliant Liquid Angel website. The actual experience of seeing the band in reality, was not of this earth. The atmosphere of the whole night was amazing, and although my mates had nothing but praised them, it would be hard to find vocabulary that could do the music any justice. I would say it was blinding, but that would be an understatement.

When the music began and everyone closed in on the stage, waiting to hear the band, I was lucky enough to find a spot next to the amps, while my friends crowded around the steps nearby. I found out, that what I was about to hear, was definitely worth the train journey.

The music was indescribably good. It was the sort of music, which you could easily chill to, before the rise or fall in speed took your soul to new heights and depths. Although I guess I will never know how people I saw around me, could resist the urge to ‘mosh’ at so many points. Were they deaf?

I found, as did my friends, that it was impossible not to respond to the drum-beat pounding through the air, rocking the body and inevitably touching the soul. While Jaemi’s guitar made the music exhilarating, his emotion-filled vocals were hit-home, by Simons bass, giving the sound a deep and tainted touch.

Unfortunately, my ability to remember that much of what I heard is slightly dimmed. Mainly because, I found that I would hear a line of the song, and the music would mentally blow me away. But for better or worse, when I eventually did remake contact with the floor, it was only to be taken on another ride once again, like a boat on a rough sea. Fighting to keep steady on the surface, while in this instance, you couldn’t resist just drowning in the music. Which I must admit, was nothing less then a pleasant experience!!!!!!!

Special thanks to MetalMiss for the review.....Tx
