| More technical problems....began to smell the brakes sticking as we descended from the campsite back to the main road and wondered if this was linked to the rather irritating squeak that we had noticed but studiously ignored for the previous few days. Jonny suspected that the brakes might be binding on and when we stopped for a bit he checked things out and discovered that they were indeed VERY hot...not a good sign! Learning from the experience of the previous day, we decided to get the brakes looked at before going much further and drove to the large-ish town of Brig to find a garage, figuring that they could also get our sump plug off. If only life was that simple.....firstly, being Switzerland, virtually everywhere was closed because it was Saturday and Monday was the earliest we might get anything done. Secondly, we had now ventured into the German speaking part of the country and we were both struggling to remember how to say 'Hans and Fido are in the garden' let alone 'we think our brakes are sticking and by the way could you take a look at our sump plug please?' However, en route to Brig we had spotted the sacred Land Rover sign at a garage in a small town called Visp so we decided to retrace our steps and camp there for a couple of days with a veiw to trying to get things sorted on Monday......so much for getting to Italy quickly!! |
