As you know, one of the UK's BEST EVER fighters, James Zikic retired last month. Here's what Frank Shamrock says...

"James Zikic was a modern day warrior far ahead of his time. With single-minded dedication James fought his way to the top of the MMA world. Some people fight because they have to , some fight because they need to. James Zikic fought because he wanted to test himself and make himself a better person. We will all miss James, from his quirky sense of humor, to his dead seriousness in combat. I am proud to call James a member of Team Shamrock and my friend.

James Zikic Retires

Bad news for UK MMA fans. James Zikic, one of the UK's most experienced and successful fighters has decided to retire from MMA. His decision is based on a number of personal reasons, the main one being the conflict between his sport and his religious beliefs.

James Zikic has built up a the reputation over the years of being a totally committed, technical fighter with supreme self belief in his skill and fighting spirit. James was one of the first MMA professionals in the UK, and the first to win in the USA.

Having decided to test himself in the art of boxing recently, he was well on the way to becoming the best amateur for his weight in the country too. James has also retired from boxing.

James is now looking forward to starting a new chapter in his life. Good luck James Zikic from all at SFUK. 25 March 2001
