PATERNOSTER RIG

This is a 2 hook paternoster rig, suitable for most types of fish, at most times of year. As well as being suitable for distance or casting, this rig is suitable for fishing down the side of piers, sea walls such as at gosport Marina.

BOMBER RIG

The bomber rig is specially designed for distance casting; for this reason it only has one hook because this minimises wind resistance. The rig also uses a bait shield to assist with streamlining. Before each cast, the baited hook is clipped onto the bait clip. The shock leader must then be kept taut, because otherwise the hook may become free. This is more likely if the casting style used is an off-ground style. The rig is then cast, and when it hits the surface of the water the hook is released, enabling it to fish as usual. The bomber rig is often used for bass and cod fishing from shallow sandy beaches because these types of venues need maximum casting distances.

SLIDER RIG

The slider rig is a popular rig for use mainly in the summer, and in calm conditions during the winter. The reason for this
is the tendency for the rig to tangle in rough seas. It can be used to good effect for close-in or distance fishing, from
a range of venues.
