Louk's writing career began when he was in his early teens, this occurred after he slowly was weaned off listening to Happy Hardcore and took an interest in Trance music. It was mainly productions such as "Liquid Child - Diving Faces", "System F - Out Of The Blue", "R.O.O.S - Instant Moments" and "Kay Cee - Escape" that convinced Louk that Trance was the style for him. Being a keen follower of this sound since the end of 1998 and also being very strongly into his techno too, Louk decided to start buying records to play the tunes that he heard and liked.
2000 came along and following some rather appalling attempts at mixing, he came to terms with the fact that he shouldn't be mixing at all! To coincide with this, Louk started reading magazines like M8, Wax, Muzik as well as free local publications (such as Twenty4-Seven, Out Of Hand, Overload) and of course websites like www.offitsface.com as well a few others. Being influenced by the writing styles from the likes of Mark EG, Danny Slade, Tim Stark and Chris Finan, amongst others Louk decided to start writing reviews of tracks that he liked.
After setting up a small website to list his tune reviews and doing a weekly chart return (which he still does to this day!), Louk contacted a few websites asking if they would like to print his reviews. These included the well respected www.offitsface.com, which he often reads, as well as www.dance-music-reviews.com and Hugi Diskmagazine (www.hugi.de).
In 2002, after making contact with Bubble Jam DeLite magazine in London, Louk had his first set of reviews printed in the March issue. The magazine featured names such as Billy Bunter, Jon Doe, Ali Wilson and other notable DJs in the Hard House and Trance scene. This was quite a good feeling for someone who was only 16 years old at the time! Since then Louk has sent reviews into every issue and has of late sent in a monthly chart to. As well as writing for Bubble Jam Delite, Louk also writes monthly Single reviews for What's On Southwest magazine (Torquay) and Free:Bass magazine (London) which is ran by Alphamagic Distribution.
He also writes other articles as well as reviews and has interviewed high profile DJs and Producers in the scene such as Timo Maas, The Disco Brothers and hard trance producer Jay Walker. Regularly going out to various Devon nights and events such as Hindsight (Exeter), Eyecon (Plymouth), Re-Wire (Plymouth), Claires (Torquay), Lunatec (Exeter), Airfusion (Newton Abbot) and many others, Louk has written about some of the events he has gone to and has had articles of nights that he has written about printed in Twenty4-Seven magazine (Plymouth) and What's On Southwest as well as local newspaper The Evening Herald (Plymouth)
