Evil Ed

This Swedish horror/comedy is a good idea, mostly, badly done. An 'art' film editor is hired to edit down a series of ultra nasty splatter flicks called "Loose Limbs".
The exposure to the violent footage, noodles up his brain and he starts seeing things. Strange characters (like a deformed, bandaged man) tell him to kill those involved in the making of this nasty stuff.

We have a lot of Parody of various films, some pretty good, (like the whacked out, big Gremlin in the fridge) some (like a really crap take on the Ash 'Groovy' scene from "ED 2") pretty bad.
We even have a scene where our mad Editor (called Ed by the way. SEE double twisty, jokey, title thingy) is being chased by a bizarre version of the Devil out of "Legend"!

Strangely, where this flick falls down is in the lack of really gory mayhem. The supposed scenes from the "Loose Limbs" series deliver the nasty, gory groceries, but the 'real' deaths in the film are a let down. Ed decapitates 2 burglars (WHO COME ARMED WITH A PISTOL, SHOTGUN AND A MACHINE GUN! Heavy duty housebreakers indeed) but it's OFF SCREEN! And he electrocutes someone, snaps someone's neck, yadda yadda...NO GORE!

We have a splattery gunfight (involving a team of AMERICAN SWAT GUYS, in a Swedish film, that has not disguised its set in Sweden! Perhaps they where on vacation!) But the only really stand out gore comes at the end...and it's a classic bit of splatter!! Shotguns make MESSY wounds!!! As Joe Bob Briggs would say....HEADS ROLL!!

The end titles, even list the 'voice over' artists on the dubbing. And each effect is listed, with the names of which effects guys did them. Pretty strange, but nice for the Special Effects guys!

So, not bad, worth watching (especially for Horror fans) but don't expect a cult classic.

I would have loved to be in the BBFC (British Board of Film Censors) offices when they were checking this film out! There is a scene where the Ed is watching a very gory scene involving a topless woman getting her arm sliced through. Ed then edits it, and we see it again...NOTHING LEFT!!!
Now how would the BBFC guy cut the first showing!!? If he did, he would be doing what Ed will later do. But then we would not understand the scene or get the joke of the 2nd showing of Ed's censored version...because it has ALREADY been censored...OH...MY BRAIN MELTS IN CONFUSION!!
And anyone who has had to sit through some of the dreadful, hack about, censor jobs on films during the 'couldn't give a shit how it looks '80's, will laugh out loud at the job Ed does on this scene!
