SPIDERWIRE STEALTH
the
latest incarnation of this
Spectra®-based super-braid

Mike Bolton checks-out the latest claims

INTRODUCTION
Various versions of SpiderWire based on Spectra® HPPE fibres have been around for a long time now, since well before the days of the formation of the Pure Fishing Group with Berkley, Abu, Fenwick & Mitchell, the latter having acquired the rights to Spiderwire from JWA.

Spiderwires, based on Spectra® or Spectra 2000® have always been good, but haven't always had the highest tenacity of the super-lines though, and certainly never cheap.

For some reason, this latest incarnation of Spiderwire, the Stealth variant, makes me a tad suspicious about whether or not there just might be some brand-engineering going-on here, plus a price-hike to boot, so I decided to check it out, both on the river bank and with the help of top Lab Technical Manager Steve Adams.

So Many Superbraids
You only have to look right here on Nick's website Tackle Testing Section to see the bewildering number of Superlines there are, and chosing the optimum one for your lure-fishing needs isn't easy. That's where I and the others in Nick's Tackle Test Team hope to help.

Ed's Note: HOLIDAY DELAY
That said, this is a 3-part review i.e. 1) Out-of-the-box impressions 2) On-the-bank first impressions and 3) Independent Laboratory Test Results.

Unfortunately, due to staff holidays at the Laboratory we use for our Technical Tackle Testing, the results on SpiderWire Stealth have been delayed; once we receive them, we'll forward them to Mike to enable him to complete this review.

Enjoy your summer hols too!
