INTRODUCTION

Over
the years, highly-successful multi-species specimen angler Den "Poledark"
Darkin has tried & tested many mono and braided main-lines.
Den, who’s more than a tad sceptical about some BS claims on some branded spools of monos and braids, always tests his lines and knots before use, and when I says tests, I mean that he actually physically tests the knot-strength using his own apparatus before fishing — how many anglers do that?
Den's
very much an all-round specimen species angler and although he may not be an
out-and-out pike angler, in his time, he’s had some very nice pike to
his credit.
Under his nom-de-peche
"Poledark" , Den's a regular on Elton Murphy’s AnglersNet
Coarse-fishing Forum (see our LINKS)
and it was there that he spied an advert for TackleBargains.co.uk, and found
some Bulk Dyneema® Super-braid
on their website.
Here’s what he’s got to say about it after months’ of use.
Den’s Verdict
TackleBargains Dyneema®-based super-braid is available in the following
BSs and colours: 6lb & 8lb (Light Green), 20lb & 25lb (grey) and 17lb,
20lb & 25lb (Ghost Green).
As
well as the normal 100 yd spools at £6, it’s available in more economical
bulk spools: 200yds - £11; 300yds - £15; 600yds - £28; 1000yds
- £46 (all plus modest P&P).
At those prices I decided to take a chance and to go for a 300 yd spool of 20 lb BS, which worked-out at £5 per 100 yds (+ P&P) which I thought was pretty good, although at that price, as I loaded it on to my four Shimano 6000 spools, I did wonder a bit about what the quality and performance would be like.
But I need not have worried because I have been distance-casting very heavy rigs and 3.5 oz weights with all three rods for four or five days a week for several weeks now and it is as just good as any other braid I have tested and used, and better than some.
Den delivers his verdict
Although the Tacklebargains Dyneema® super-braid floats, it isn’t
too buoyant and you can easily keep it down below the surface (thus avoiding
surface weed and drag), even when you’re fishing at a distance of
90 yds or more, in 3 or 4ft depth of water, as I having been doing on some of
my venues.

To date, there is no sign of fraying or "fluffing", and there seems to be no reason to suspect that this will occur now — in fact it would appear that the actual weave of the braid may have even "tightened up a bit" with use.
From what I gather, though, this Dyneema® super-braid won’t be around forever at these prices because Tacklebargains.co.uk have obtained this special shipment, which was an over-order placed on a top super-braid manufacturer (whose name must remain anonymous), as a very special deal and, like the price, the packaging is also minimalist as you might expect — so you'll have to move quickly as I did, if you want to take advantage of a top superline at a very attractive price.

Editor's
Notes: Although Den's not a lure-angler per se, we are sure
that his experiences with this super-braid are invaluable pointers to its use
in lure-fishing, and we'd like to thank Den very much for sharing his findings
with us all .... and if you'd like to see some more photos of the very wide
range of specimen species that Den has caught over the years, have a look at
his very own website http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/poledark/
Den's nom-de-peche being Poledark
