The Glorious Twelfth 2005

The band played very well for the duration of the main parade to the demonstration field and received some very positive comments. All members were glad to arrive at the field to get some relief from the heat on what was a scorcher.

Following the return parade in Glenavy and Lisburn the members of LOL 1991 and the band made a super quick change of clothes, had a quick wash and headed for Pond Park Black Hall. The band had a very enjoyable evening with a fantastic group on stage and even a little time for the LYD to play for a wee sing-along.

The 12th day began for the LYD and LOL 1991 along with many other guests at the Worshipful Master’s home for a breakfast of bacon butties along with many other types of refreshments. The food was much appreciated and the band’s best thanks go to Catherine and her helpers for the grub and generous hospitality.

The band played the traditional hymn “Abide with me” before setting off playing Killaloe (A particular favourite of 1991’s Worshipful Master). We then made our way to Lisburn Orange Hall to join the District Parade around the town before getting the bus to Glenavy.

For some the evening ended with a nice walk home before bed, for others (naming no names) it ended with a quick paddle in Naomi’s pool (Photographs to follow - hopefully).

Roll on 12/07/06!
