Father Teds Parochial House
| 'Father Ted'
... is probably the funniest comedy series ever shown on television. The adventures of three priests and a housekeeper who live together on a fictional west of Ireland location called Craggy Island built up a strong fanbase over the three series shown in the UK and Ireland. The longsuffering Father Ted, dimwitted Father Dougal, alcoholic Father Jack, tea-obsessed Mrs Doyle and a cacophony of other misfit characters demonstrated the depth of Irish comic talent, and left a lasting impression upon Irish youth. |

The Parochial House
.. is where the priests and housekeeper live in the series. The house features in the programs opening sequence and regularly in outdoor shots during the episodes. Though within the show its location is 'Craggy Island' in actual fact the house is to be found amidst the beautiful surroundings of County Clare. As yet I do not know why this particular house was chosen. |
| Getting There
Visiting the parochial house is not only worthwhile for the Fr Ted pilgrim but for anyone who wishes to enjoy the natural beauty of County Clare as it is positioned within the Burren region famous for its grey limestone landscape and opposite Mullag More mountain. To find the house, drive to Killinaboy and find the road which is signposted to Boston. Keep on the country road and the house will appear on the left hand side. Keep your eyes open and you cant miss it! (The Green Dot on the map right) If you drive on to the T junction and turn left towards Carran, there is a georgeous spot to stop at and enjoy the scenery (The Blue Dot on the map right) Finally, please remember that the house is privately owned and please don't trespass on private property. Thanks, and enjoy! |
