Mains Estate Bus Service
There has been a lot of comment about the 109 and 119
First Glasgow bus service which started its run through
the estate in July 2000. On this page we provide links to
the main correspondence and press articles about the
service and the association's attitude to bus services in
general. We hope that this will help clear up the
confusion and give a clearer understanding of the facts.
This is not the main page for public transport or bus
information on the site, rather the history of the
dispute. If you would like travel information, this can
be found here, along with
links and phone numbers of the main transport operators
in the area.
Prior to the formal relaunch of the association in
1999, the temporary committee had carried out a
questionnaire to all homes in the estate covering topics
of potential interest and asking householders for the
issues which concerned them. The result of that
questionnaire were presented to the 1999 AGM, and
published on this website here.
A public meeting was held on 25 October 2000 where
First Glasgow proposed a new timetable making concessions
to those who felt that the bus service had been an
intrusion, but increasing services on Hunter Road. A
report about this meeting can be found here and the new
timetable here.
