Introduction
The aim is to provide a comprehensive report of Manchester
Airport movements with the site to be updated on a daily basis, hopefully
giving prospective visitors to the airport an indication of how many aircraft
can be viewed in a day.
Logs up to and including August 2003 include arrival and
departure times. From September 2003
onwards, a new logging system is in place...one that I hope will make it easier
for you to track either a specific aircraft or a flight by using the “Find (on
this page)” feature on the Edit menu on your toolbar. However, there is a
slight alteration to how the movements are displayed from January 2006: I’ve
dropped the space in a callsign i.e. where previously I would have displayed
“AAL 54”, it now appears as “AAL54”; each different service operated will be
separated from the previous one using the “/” character, even if the same
callsign is used on arrival and departure.
Charter/scheduled services are listed at the top of each page with the
listing being determined by the airline’s ICAO code, followed by diversions,
military aircraft, other aircraft noted and, finally, executive or general
aviation. The latter will be done on a
time basis (where known).
I’ve also listed the callsign/flight number tie-ups used for
Winter 2003/2004 and Summer 2004; I’m currently revising the callsigns/flight
numbers in use, as well as looking to give a rundown on the callsigns and the
codes that they are associated with when flights are displayed on
timetables/teletext/e-mail groups.
All sightings will be gratefully received (ideally with
flight number or time but it's not imperative!); even the "mundane"
British commercial and light aircraft will be listed.
With a new year comes a fresh start....with the advent of
the latest technology, an even greater coverage of flights than before should
now be possible! Any logs, comments or
suggestions on how to display flights should be sent to dvkerr@supanet.com
