Willows High School
Undefeated run continues!

First thing this morning there were blue skies and a lovely warming sun! I was looking forward to a lovely warm morning basking in the sunshine watching the lads. Unfortunately, it became overcast, cold and damp by the time we kicked off and it became colder and colder as the morning wore on! By the time the matches had finished the band of loyal supporters were quite keen to go home and warm their toes!  Thankfully there was no wind but as it was the cold damp air seemed to suck the heat out of us! James's unfortunate appendix problems over the holidays meant that our managers had to plan tactics with his absence in mind. James is an important member of our squad and he will be sorely missed! Get better soon James! We need you!

The  round-up of today's results!

Game 1 Marlboro Eagles 1 Pentyrch 1
Game 2 Marlboro Eagles 7  Grangetown  0
Game 3 Marlboro Eagles  2 Splott Albion  2

Today's squad: Declan, Niall, Mike, Sam Jonathan, Aaron, Ross, Sion, Ewan

TWO DRAWS ONE WIN!

Game one saw us play a highly competitive match against Pentyrch. Pentyrch took the lead with a well taken goal and the lads entered the second half a goal down after the woodwork was hit twice by Eagle shots. An excellent effort from Mike early in the second half saw the Eagles equalise and then take control of the game but the shots just wouldn't go in! The game which was played in an excellent spirit by both sets of lads ended at 1-1.
Game two saw the lads overwhelm Grangetown 7-0. The Eagles were rampant and the shots rained in! Even so Jonathan produced an excellent save in the second half to keep the clean sheet produced by himself and Sam.
Game 3 saw us meet Splott Albion against who we have had highly competitive games this season. The lads took an early lead with an excellent Aaron strike only to be pegged back by a very fortuitous goal by the Albion. The lads took the lead at the end of the second half to lead 2-1 at the break. The second half continued to be an exciting tight game and it looked like the game would finish with the Eagles the victors but a second fortuitous effort from Splott saw them equalise and bring the game back to 2-2 which is how it stayed.

A good start to the year though!  Keep it up lads!
