About Marton Links Specific Links

The Marton Primary School school management, Chair of Governors and the Director of Children's Services have repeatedly relied on the apathy of parents when either refusing to answer questions or producing letters full of half truths or uninformed statements. The forum too contains many statements and opinions.

This website aims to provide links to websites where parents and other interested readers can further their understanding of the educational issues involved and so become able to make up their own minds about the quality of education which is being provided by Marton School and the way it has been run in recent years.

Marton Primary Schhol Forum Visit the Marton Primary School forum and browse to find out the reasons for concern over the past three years. Although the Chair of Governors and Director have been at pains to point out that only a small minority have been disatisfied there are many posts and still many readers visiting the site regularly.

Ofsted Conference Report 3 consecutive Leaders of Ofsted have now stated that 'satisfactory' for a school report is not good enough. Figures have shown that schools stated as satisfactory by their Ofsted report are in the bottom third of schools nationally (two thirds being good or outstanding). Despite this Mr Lund maintained that Marton's last inspection showed that Marton was a good school. Read one of Ofsted's own conference reports here.

DfES Press Release This press release is about the improvement of the recent KS2 sats results of 2007. Mr Lund stated in his latest letter to parents that it was the best ever set of results for the school. What he failed to point out, as this government statement makes clear, was that it was the best set of results for just about every other school too.

The Standards Site - Parental Involvement This site was produced specifically for parents by the DfES to provide information on the Home School Partnership. How effective is yours and how does it compare with the samples provided here ?

LGFL Services Lancashire Grid for Learning provides many of the IT services for NW schools. This link takes you to an explanation of the security provisions, such as the 'walled garden', which are needed for children to browse the internet safely in school. It was this web address which was sent to Mr Turner to help the governors better understand the issues raised when children at Marton accessed unsuitable sites - but judging by Mr Turner's statements they did not read it.

BECTA E-Safety BECTA is the agency set up by the government to develop IT in education. This link takes you to the e-safety policies for parents and carers, making it clear that parents and carers should be fully consulted on internet safety issues, and, where possible, should be involved in the development of school policies in this area, for example, through a parental representative on the school’s internet safety policy team.

CEOP The Government has set up this parents' and carers' area as part of its new Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre - also known as CEOP. The aim of the website is to help you understand some of the new technology that young people love to use, update you on some of the risks they may come into contact with and empower you to get involved in helping them be safer in their online experience.
