About The Club

mapFáilte got dtí baile leathanach Nordrhein Westfalen CLG. We're a new club and are based in Düsseldorf, althought our catchment area includes Bonn, Köln and Essen...i.e. the Nordrhein Westfallen area You can see our exact catchment area on the map. We're the area marked in yellow that contains Düsseldorf and Köln.
Our club colours are green and red. These are the colours of the Nordrhein Westfalen area, the flag of which can be seen here.
Our nickname is "The Exiles". Since our club is made up of mostly Irish abroad, we though this was particularily apt.

Club Members

Our club is open to both men and women of any nationality who want to want to play a bit of GAA and have a bit of craic doing so! So far we've approximately 17 active members, both male and female, which means we've the makings of hurling, football and ladies football teams. Unfortunately we don't have the numbers for a camogie team yet, but we're just getting started, so get in touch with us anyway!!

The Chairman of the club is a Tipperary man (we could not get anyone else) Shane O Meara and PRO is Milan Huelder.

Training

Training takes place every Wednesday at 19:00 (7pm) in Rhein Park. For those of you who need directions, take the U-Bahn (U79 or U78) from Hbf/Heinrich Heine Allé to Victoriaplatz. Leave by the stairs at the front end of the train, up to the left to street level, then walk towards the Rhine. There you'll see a big grassy area (Rhein Park) and you should spot some hurlers fairly easily!

Equipment

The club has some hurleys, but if you have one or two of your own, then bring them. We don't have any helmets or gumshields, so it's up to everyone to bring their own. What you wear is up to you (i.e. shorts, tracksuits, etc...). It might be better to bring runners instead of boots with you while we're training in Rhein Park as the ground tends to be hard and a bit uneven in places.
