Prologue
CJayC
walked into the control room of the GameFAQs arena. A year ago, he decided
to see who was the number one video game character. 64 game personalities
battled it out in 24 hour fights in the arena. CJayC watched it all from
the control room. Nearly 100,000 GameFAQs civilians came by each 24 hour
battle to root for their favorite character. Last year, the victor was
Link. This year he returns to defend his title.
CJayC
sat down in his seat and waited for the contestants of this year's summer battle
to arrive. 64 chairs were placed on the ground where the battles would
soon take place. A few moments pass and then a creak could be heard on the
arena floor. The battle arena door opened and the first group of
characters appeared on the battlefield. It was all of the characters
invited from the Squaresoft world.

got on the PA system. "Welcome. You are the first ones
here. Please, take any seat. The rest should arrive
shortly." Half-an-hour later, 62 of the participants were seated and
waiting. The crowd then started coming in and filling up the arena's
seats. Half of the arena's seats were filled when the arena doors suddenly
slammed open and the last two participants walked in. Zelda appeared with
Link right behind her. Some of the crowd cheered at the sight of last
year's champion. The fighters on the floor began murmuring. Mario
glared at Link with eyes of vengeance. Luigi patted his brother's
shoulder. "We's gonna get im. Don'tcha worry bout it."
Zelda and Link took their seats. CJayC got on PA again.
"Ladies
and gentlemen, welcome to the GameFAQs arena. You 64 fighters were all
nominated by the people in today's crowd. Everyone in today's crowd has a
message board account and will be gambling on your fights. Now I will
reveal the matches for the tournament..." As CJayC read off the
matches the names appeared on the big screen with a camera shot of the
participant on the side. After the last match for the North Division was
announced, Link glanced over to Samus. Link figured that she would be the
only one who might be a problem for him.
CJayC
then began announcing the matches for the East Division. Cloud chuckled
when CATS was named his opponent. When Sora was named, Cloud immediatley
began to worry that he might have to face him for the East Division
finals. Then Aeris was named as his opponent. They were sitting
right next to each other. They both gave each other shocked looks.
CJayC kept announcing the matches.
After the announcement of all the
South Division matches, Kefka and Sephiroth stared at each other from across the
field. Then both began laughing maniacally. They both thought they
would see each other for that division's final match. Mario looked over at
both of them and thought, "There'sa now way ya gonna beata Mario, ya
fuckers."
Snake and Raiden smirked at each other
when their names were announced. At the end of the announcement of the
West Division's battles, Megaman and Tommy smiled quietly to themselves.
Both of them thought they would sweep the West Division.
"Well, that concludes the
tournament list. Field types and battle conditions will be announced on
each day of battle. Good luck to all the fighters and to all who are
betting.
