Story 8.5

Let's see.  A kid who has been driving long before he got his license, suddenly pops onto the street racing scene at 18 and dominates all.

Animation 7.0 The racing CGs are pretty good.  The animation in first and third stage is an 'acquired taste.'  I liked the animation in the second stage a lot.  It felt 'cleaner' to me.
Races 10 Awesome...just awesome.
Music 10 The music rocks.
Character Development 9.0 The different character developments were well done.  Cole's character development was my favorite.
Ending 6.0 There's a lot more to be told.
Overall 8.5 This is a great series.
Notes

Initial D is one of those rare animes where even if the concept doesn't interest you, you'll still like it.  I am a serious idiot when it comes to cars.  I hate ricers.  I find racing pretty boring.  All of this, and I still got into the anime.
When the manga finishes, they should animate the rest of the story because manga stills can't do the races justice.
