Minnie Caldwell: Actor: Margot Bryant 1960-76 Quiet and timid, Minnie was Ena Sharples' stooge. She moved into No. 5 in 1962 with her cat, called Bobby, and she remained there for the next fourteen years. She took in lodgers Charlie Moffit, Jed Stone, Eddie Yeats, Joe Donnelli - and she spent her evenings in the Rovers' Snug with Ena and Martha Longhurst. In 1969 she was nearly killed in a coach crash, and the following year she was held at gunpoint by Joe Donnelli. In 1973, she became engaged to Albert Tatlock in order to save money on her pension, but eventually she broke off her engagement because of his annoying habits. She left the Street to become housekeeper to her old friend Handel Gartside after his wife died. ·· top ··

Ivan Cheveski: Actor: Ernst Walder 1960-67 Polish Ivan was Elsie Tanner's son-in-law. He bought No. 11 for wife Linda and worked as potman at the Rovers. In 1961, the Cheveskis emigrated to Canada but returned in 1966 when their marriage was wrecked by Linda's affair. He settled in Birmingham. ·· top ··
Linda Cheveski: Actor: Anne Cunningham 1960-84 Elsie Tanner's headstrong, moody daughter. She and husband Ivan moved into No. 9 in 1961 shortly before the birth of their son, Paul. The family lived in Canada for five years, but returned to England after Linda's affair with a Canadian, Mike. In 1984, Linda started divorce proceedings and returned to the Street to an empty No. 11. She attempted to stop the sale of the house but failed. ·· top ··

Paul Cheveski: Actor: Victoria Elton, Marcus Saville, Nigel Greaves 1961-72 Elsie Tanner's grandson, the first on-screen birth in the Street. In 1966, he battled for life after falling into the canal. ·· top ··
Jasmine Choong: Actor: Lucille Soong 1969 Billy Walker's Chinese girlfriend who stayed at the Rovers. When Billy announced his plans to marry her, his mother Annie announced his plans to marry her, his mother Annie collapsed and told Jasmine she would stop the marriage. Gordon Clegg: Actor: Bill Kenwright 1968-82 Betty Turpin's successful accountant son. When he arrived in the Street he lived at the Corner Shop with Les and Maggie Clegg, who he thought were his parents. Years later, he was told that it was Maggie's sister Betty who was really his mother. He became engaged to Lucille Hewitt but dropped just a week before the wedding was due to take place. He went to live in London but returned occasionally to visit Maggie and Betty. Now living in Wimbledon, he is married to Caroline with a son, Peter ·· top ··
Les Clegg: Actor: John Sharp 1968 Bought the Corner Shop in a bid to start afresh and escape his drink problem. When drunk, he became abusive and hit wife Maggie. He left after only a few months at the shop and entered a psychiatric hospital. Eventually he and Maggie divorced. ·· top ··
Ida Clough: Actor: Helene Palmer 1978-88 Militant shop steward at Mike Baldwin's factory. Mother of Muriel and Bernard who also both worked at Baldwin's. ·· top ··
Norris Cole: Actor: Malcolm Hebden 1994 Enviro-Sphere salesman who lodged with the Wiltons after rescuing Derek when he was stranded on a motorway. Whilst Derek's fortunes as a salesman sank, those of Norris rose. In 1995, Norris started a relationship with Derek's former wife, Angela Hawthorne. ·· top ··

Shiela Crossley, Nee Birtles: Actor: Eileen Mayers 1961-74 F*Actory girl Sheila lodged at the Corner Shop with friend Doreen Lostock in the early 1960s. She went out with Jerry Booth but ditched him for the more worldly Neil Crossley. She tried to kill herself when Neil left the area, leaving her pregnant. She left herself in 1963 but returned in 1966 to lodge with Elsie Tanner at No.11. she took up with Jerry, but left him again when Neil re-entered her life. She married Neil and set up a home for them and their son, Danny. ·· top ··

Lisa Duckworth, Nee Horten: (Actor: Caroline Milmoe) 1992-93 Married Terry Duckworth and then struggled to bring up their son Tommy while Terry was in prison. She moved in with Des Barnes after realising Terry would always be a villain. They planned a new start but she was knocked down on the street and died in hospital. ·· top ··
Terry Duckworth: (Actor: Nigel Pivaro) 1983-The bad boy on the Street moved into No.11 after leaving the Paras. He Struggled to get along with his rowing parents, but was constantly embarrassed by them. An affair with Andrea Clayton left him a father to a son he never saw, and he left the area in 1987 with Linda, the wife of his pal Pete Jackson. He married Lisa Horten as she was pregnant, but was sent to Strangeways for GBH. After his release and Linda's death, he sold his son Tommy to the Hortens. ·· top ··
Jack Duckworth: (Actor: William Tarmey) 1979- John Harold Duckworth first appeared at Gail and Brian Tilsley's wedding - his nagging wife Vera had dragged him along. Jack and Vera were seldom faithful to each other, he having affairs with Bet Lynch and Dulcie Froggatt. As 'Vince St Clair', Jack joined a dating agency but was caught out by Vera. In 1983 the couple, with son Terry, moved into the Street and upset the neighbours with their rows. Originally a welder, Jack became a taxi-driver and window-cleaner before landing his dream job - potman at the Rovers. ·· top ··
Vera Duckworth: (Actor: Elizabeth Dawn) 1974- Loud-mouthed Vera joined the Mark Brittain warehouse as a packer before starting as a machinist at Mike Baldwin's factory. From 1976 to 1989 she made Baldwin's life a misery as she used her trouble -making tongue more then her sewing machine. In 1983, together with Jack and Terry, she moved into No.9, where she was close to her best mate Ivy Tilsley. Prior to this she had a brief fling with Fred Gee. She worked at Bettabuys until she gave up work to look after her grandson Tommy. She was heartbroken when he was taken to live withhis other grandparents. ·· top ··

Len Fairclough: (Actor: Peter Adamson) 1961-83 Builder Len Fairclough was a regular at the Rovers for many years before he moved into No.9 in 1968. When his wife Nellie left him he proposed marriage to Elsie Tanner but she turned him down. Len conducted affairs with three women on the Street - Maggie Clegg, Bet Lynch and Anita Reynolds – before settling down with Rita Littlewood, whom he finally married in 1977. In 1962 he started his own business, eventually going into partnership with Jerry Booth and Ray Langton. The three men shared No.9 in the mid-1970s before Len got married to Rita. His son Stanley disowned him following Nellie's death and, with Rita, he fostered Sharon Gaskell. In 1983, he started to have an affair with Majorie Procter, and it was while travelling back from her house that he was killed in a motorway crash. ·· top ··
Stanley Fairclough: (Actor: Peter Noone, Ronald Cunliffe) 1961-77 Len's son who was brought up in Nottingham by stepfather Harry Bailey, following his mother Nellie's death. He resented the way his father had treated Nellie so badly during their marriage, and in an act of vengeance set fire to his building-yard, nearly killing himself. ·· top ··
