The Style of Goshin Ryu JuJitsu

The style taught at MHJJC is Goshin Ryu JuJitsu. It is a highly practical system, with no sporting applications whatsoever, and is a pure combat orientated self defence/fighting art. This is ideal for both male and female as the emphasis in on technique and not strength.

The syllabus is split into 7 belts before reaching the coveted black belt.

Goshin Ryu JuJitsu incorporates aspects of western boxing, muay thai boxing, kali and Russian sombo as well as traditional jujitsu.

As a newcomer, you will start off with simple techniques as well as how to fall. As you progress you will be taught more complex techniques that will complement everything you have already learnt. If you have previous experience in the martial arts you will probably progress at a faster rate depending on how you adapt to the system.

Included in the syllabus : strikes, throws, pressure points, takedowns, joint locking & joint destruction, grappling and groundwork, first aid, shiatsu/accupressure and weapons.

The principle of multiple strike entries is a fundamental part of our system - a typical technique would include 3 to 6 rapid "softening" strikes followed by a throw /take down etc., finishing with more strikes and a joint lock to control the attacker. Verbal skill, aggression and determination are used to affect the attacker from a psychological standpoint throughout the technique.
