After planting
the grass seed, it was a case of sitting back and wait. During
the summer of 2000, the first signs of grass began to poke
their leaves through the clay. By June, almost two thirds
of the lawn was showing. Spurned on by this, I started to
dig a border in the most lush areas.
The lawn was
coming along fine, then...... the weeds started to appear.
Again, I popped along to my local B&Q and got some weed
masher. In days, the weeds has gone. And so... winter. The
garden was abandoned for about 4 months while the rain, snow,
wind and hail hit Northern Scotland.
Summer came
early... May was stunningly hot during 2001. The garden looked
a mess. It was then I visited Dobbies in Monifeith. Purchased
a couple of plants and I was hooked. Next, the plants.
At the end
of May, start of June 2001, the garden had over 280 plants.
The best place to see some of them is by clicking the next
button which will take you to the gallery.
I am not a
plant expert and some of the plants are unpronounceable, so
in the early years of this site, I will only use the common
terms for the plants.
The plants
were initially chosen due to the price. :-)
