The area surrounding Glenderry has much to offer with superb scenery and beautiful European Union rated Blue Flag beaches within easy reach.

AlanSean2.jpg (48298 bytes)Ballyheigue Village is less than 2 miles from the cottages and has pubs, shops and restaurants as well as a 9-hole golf course. The famous Ballybunion 18-hole golf course is 13 miles away, the Arnold Palmer designed Tralee 18-hole golf course at Barrow is 8 miles away to the south. Some of the best golf courses in County Kerry are within a one hour drive of the cottages.

The town of Tralee is a short drive and has many attractions. There is Blennerville Windmill, also the Jeanie Johnston replica famine ship has recently made her maiden voyage to the USA and back, taking in many ports along the eastern seaboard. When not at sea her home port is Fenit

Also in Tralee is the Kerry Museum and Heritage Centre, Siamsa Tire - the national folk theatre of Ireland, and the children will love the Steam Train and Aqua Dome, the largest water park of its kind in the Munster region.

For those wishing to tour the Southwest corner of Ireland, this is an ideal location with the Ring of Kerry, Lakes of Killarney and the Dingle Penisula within easy reach.

There is a car ferry to County Clare from Tarbert on the banks of the Shannon River making a day trip to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher an easy outing.

fishing at kerry head.jpg (50923 bytes)There are sea fishing trips available a short distance from the cottages at Fenit, with rock and shore fishing an easy walk away. River and lake fishing is also available a short drive away.

Bird watching has become a very popular activity in the area, as is Wind-Surfing, and other water sports.

For the more adventurous, why not try your hand at Horse Riding. For the more sedate, the area is perfect for Cycling and Walking.

The bars in Ballyheigue village feature Traditional Music with Tralee having an excellent and varied selection of Nightlife.
