This page will give you some information about the Alamo Pilots google group. “Alamo Pilots “ is a google group set up to provide information and support to Alamo housing Coop members and other coop members who will be housed in the Alamo Housing Coop / Stadium housing scheme. Originally it was set up for the Pilot project members and is now also open to the Main scheme members.

Background

The purpose of the Alamo Housing Coop / Stadium housing scheme is to provide permanent housing for the Alamo Coop members and members of other housing coops who have lived in “short life” housing in Islington, London. It involves buying the houses that the coop members have been living in from the owners, Islington Council, and converting them to provide permanent flats for the coop members.

Here’s the original welcome message, below:

Hi, welcome to Alamo Pilots. The main purpose of this mail

group is to enable Alamo pilot & main scheme members and other

coop members to support each other by sharing information &

experiences. Perhaps we can also help other Alamo Coop members

and management prepare for the main Stadium scheme by letting

them know what works well for pilot scheme members and what

doesn't seem to work well.

Alamo Housing Coop has always been a scattered grouping of

houses /members spread across Islington. For those of us in

the Stadium pilot scheme the sense of being a scattered

community may increase as we are decanted from our long stay

"short life" homes and live with our belongings packed away

whilst waiting for the promised new homes to be created. This

can be a nail biting time as we face many uncertainties as well

as exciting as we face the happy prospect of decent permanent

housing.

Information can be a boon at a time like this. I think we need

important information such as how are the buildings progressing

& accurate estimates for when the flats will be ready and how

is the scheme running so far - as well as smaller bits of local

information eg. where to get a good deal on new gas cookers in

N1 and where have people been decanted to. We can supply much

of this information our selves.

This is especially so when the question we may have cannot be

answered by hard pressed workers but other coop members already

have some useful information.

So go ahead post anything you like that you think may be

relevant to the main topics of; Alamo housing Coop pilot scheme

& Information that will be useful to the members in this exciting

time of transition.

on the net.

Only Alamo Housing Coop members & workers interested in the

Pilot Project and main scheme may post messages. Your email address

should be masked by google from the view of public browsers & spammers.

You can choose not to receive any emails - to view the messages

online only. Also you can post here anonymously using a nickname.

The usual caveats apply: No porn & no repeated commercial or
