Moist began life Nov 92 after David Usher and Kevin Young met Mark Makoway and Jeff Pearce at a party in vancouver, where they discovered a mutual desire to make music. In February 93 Moist record 9 songs in two days at Vancouver's 8th Avenue Studios. The self-titled cassette (now known by moist fans as the indie tape) went on to sell 1,500 copies. After original drummer Jamie Kauffman left Moist go through a number of drummers, then finally Paul Wilcox joins (yay).Moist tour lots and lots.Then in October 93 EMI offer Moist a Publishing deal, they except. They tour somemore. Moist independantly record and release 'Silver' at a cost of $4,500.00. They make a video for the first single 'Push'. Moist are offered a World wide record deal with EMI/Chrysalis. 'Silver' is then re-released, it goes on to achieve triple platinum record sales in Canada. Then Moist tour even more. Moist make it really big in Thailand. Moist tour once again even more. In 96 Moist move to Montreal, and begin work on 'Creature' at Studio Morin Heights. Creature is released and goes on to achieve Multi-platinum status. Once again Moist tour and tour and tour. Then in the summer of 1999 Moist release the eagerly anticipated 'Mercedes Five And Dime' their third Album. And embark on yet another tour.
