The "matrix" mentioned above isn't a true matrix (records obviously don't have matrixes), but rather what is etched into each record.  This is the only way to tell the records apart, since they have a plain white label, at least in the one I have.

Like the 7" bootleg Live at Gilman St., this record states that it's recorded from Gilman St. (possibly the same show?), with no date given, and "by the fans for the fans" instead of a record label/catalog number.  This one says "All Proceeds Donated to East Bay Armed Response", so I'm thinking that maybe these two aren't bootlegs, but rather indie pressings benefiting charity (which explains the artwork similar to that on Kerplunk - it just might have been the same artist).  In either case, these shows have to be before 1993, since Green Day were essentially banned from Gilman St. after they signed with a major label.

The funny thing about this release is that Green Day's audience recordings sound just as good, and maybe even better, than the soundboard recordings on the a-side from Neurosis and Operation Ivy. But then, this is because I have a dirty vinyl. Anyway, these are some pretty good soundboard recordings (they could have been mastered a little better - but hey, this is by the fans, for the fans), with the exception of Green Day's and Rancid's audience recordings (Green Day's sound better than Rancid's). This is the first time I've heard a track from most of the other artists on here, and they're nice tracks (I really like the track by Stikky). It kind of sucks that Green Day's are just snippets, but this shows that Green Day played the "Paper Lanterns medley", or at least parts of it, before the Dookie tour, for the Green Day historians out there ;-).
