CREWE & NANTWICH LIONS CLUB

Crewe & Nantwich Lions Club was first established in 1958 making it the oldest club in the district 105BS.

The club has always worked to the Lions Moto "WE SERVE" for as with all Lions clubs that is the prime function.

Our club is situated in Cheshire and meets at Hunters Lodge Sydney Rd Crewe on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of the Month.

Over the last 12 months we have lost 3 older members including our last founder member.

On the positive side we have with the help of Stapeley Water Gardens Nantwich built a Sensory Garden.
The garden is designed with the Partially Sighted,Blind and disabled in mind, the flower and shrub beds are planted to be easily touched by all, the scents given off are exceptionaly good.
Once a year we hold a garden party at the garden when other clubs and organizations bring people for the afternoon tea, the club provide a tea, sandwiches and entertainment at no cost to the visitors.

During the year several other functions take place in the garden, it is well worth ringing Stapeley to find out what.

Fund Raising/Community Projects

During the year Crewe and Nantwich Lions Club carry out several fund raising projects.

We place easter eggs or boxes of chocolates in local pubs and clubs who kindly raffle them off.

We hold Charity Fayres at Crewe Town Centre and Nantwich Town Centre where local charities can have a stall for the day at a modest price, over the years the Nantwich one has been very successful, the Crewe one has only just started in 2000 but shows signs of being another success.

The main fund raising event is the Bonfire and Fireworks show in The Queens Park Crewe by kind permission of the Borough Council.
This event is held anually and is visited by some 4000 people +.
The event has a Fun Fair and Catering. There are stalls and entertainment prior to the actual show.

COMMUNITY
Of the other Community projects the club carry out the most noteable are The Songs of Praise and Carol Service at St Mary's Church Nantwich. These two projects for people who would not be able to attend normally are full to capacity, other clubs bring in to Nantwich Disabled and Infirm people who need assistance.

The Largest community project the club has undertaken was the construction of a Sensory garden within Stapeley Water Gardens at Nantwich. The Garden is designed so that Able,Disabled, Partially Sighted and Blind People can have the pleasure of visiting a Garden that allows touching and is scented.
