| Dharan | 1 | A large dusty market town. Useful for bus connections. |
| Dhankuta | 3 | Interesting museum of tribal artifacts |
| Hile | 1 | A trailhead near Dhankuta. |
| Biratnagar | 2 | A large city in Eastern Nepal. Chhahari Restaurant is excellent. Kohinoor Restaurant is moderately priced. |
| Rajbiraj | 3 | A small town in a Maithili speaking area. Stay at Shiva's hotel. Visit a Maithili village. |
| Dhalkebar | 1 | A junction on the East West Highway, near Janakpur |
| Hetauda | 1 | A major city almost in the middle of Nepal. Hotel Seema, moderately priced, has a good restaurant. |
| Kathmandu | 2 | Capital city and lots of restaurants |
| Boudhanath | 1 | Take a taxi from Kathmandu. Visit the stupa. |
| Bhaktapur | 1 | Enjoy watching the potters at work. Take the trolley bus from Kathmandu |
| Patan | 1 | Walkable from Kathmandu. Historic buildings |
| Pokhara | 3 | Somewhere to rest up and enjoy the restaurants. Or the starting point for treks to the Annapurnas. |
| Bhairahawa | 1 | Rural border town on the way back to India. Cross border to the train station at Nautanwa. Continue with: Nautanwa to Mumbai |
