MS PILSUDSKI - CAPTAIN

CAPTAIN MAMERT STANKIEWICZ

MS Pilsudski sailed on her maiden voyage from Gdynia to New York on September 15th under a legendary Polish Captain Mamert Stankiewicz who is the central character in the book
"You mean captain" by his officer and friend cpt. Karol Olgierd Borchardt.

Captain Stankiewicz remained in command of MS Pilsudski throughout her brief life. When the ship sank in the early hours of November 26th 1939 he was rescued from the water but died shortly thereafter from exhaustion and hypothermia.
