We are grateful to Martens Pieter for allowing us to include the photos he took in the course of his dive to the wreck of MS Pilsudski in the Autumn of 2003. We have included all his photos, not just those of the wreck, in order to give a fuller flavour of his dive.
Martens Pieter reports "The Trimix/Nitrox expedition began on 29 august last year, we first made a trip from Zeebrugge (Belgium) to Hull.
The Trimix divers were: Leys Luc (General Manager Green Force), Couvruer Kris, Martens Pieter and Geirnaert Eric.
The whole trip was sponsored by Green Force.(ind link and logo below).
After we embarked on the "Ocean Dancer" in Goole we sailed down the Humber and were heading for Whitby.
The " Ocean Dancer" is a fully equipped technical diving vessel, owned by John Mayo Evens and Gary Goodyear.
Whitby was our base to start for the Trimix dives on unknown wrecks.
Because of bad weather we did our first dive on 2/09/2003.
We did three magnificent dives on three different wrecks before we were going to the "Pilsudski" on 05/09/2003.
At that moment the weather was really perfect and we were able to do two dives on the same day.
In this case it were Nitrox-dives because of the smooth depth of 34 meters.
Dive 1 : 34 m total dive time 80 minutes.
Dive 2 : 33 m total dive time 91 minutes.
We were almost two hours on the "Pilsudski", in that time we had a good impression of what's left of the liner.
It is a large wreck-field, but is is just the bow that is still more or less intact with the anchors in place.
The rest off the field are bits and pieces, with some nice details still recognizable, much off the hull is flattened.
