what
nina is thinking
Nina suddenly finds herself walking down Ramsay Street and past the scully's
house, no one is in because they are all with lori at the hospital. She can't
stop thinking about jack there with lori, she knew she should never have got
involved ...(sorry paused to put born to try on for inspiration)...jack loved
lori and what they had was just a fling, nothing lasting, nothing like the love
between lori and jack. He belonged to lori and not her.
she
slowly started to believe what jack had said to her earlier, it was over, there
was no way they could get together now, he had never seemed keen to tell lori
any way, and it would have gone on like that until she had realised what she was
starting to realise now.
it
was a relationship that was in the past now, and could never have been.
maybe
taj would accept an apology from her with time and they could get back together,
he had been her first love.
but
nina still yearned for jack’s company she felt so lonely and even worse
because she was slowly starting to believe that jack felt nothing for her, he
didn't love her.
if
she had taj's strong arm around her now she would be ok, everything would be
back to normal and jack would never have happened.
when
nina got home she sat at her piano and slowly sang "lost without you"
and all of her thoughts and feelings poured out in her song releasing something
deep down that seemed to cleanse her through but afterwards left an
emptiness.....
taj's
turn
As
taj left the hospital and started heading home after saying goodbye to lori, he
realised what a heck of a day it had been. when he had woken up that morning he
hadn't thought he would be dumped by nina and nearly kill lori, what kind of
person was he? he must have done something wrong for nina just to break off with
him like that and then to finish it off he started chasing lori around the pool.
did he deserve this?
there
was too much going off in his head now, he didn't understand any of it and he
was emotionally and physically exhausted now. maybe when he woke up tomorrow
every thing would be back to normal, he would walk to school with nina and meet
jack and lori there, all with a smile upon their faces, and new joke up their
sleeves and nothing to worry about.

Lori had fallen to sleep so jack decided to follow karl's advice and take a nap
on a sofa in the lounge, it wasn't particularly comfortable but it gave him an
opportunity for him to try to clear his head.
what
he had planned to say to lori before the accident had completely gone out of the
window, lori needed him to stick by her, it was going to be hard enough for her
to get through it without doing it alone...or had his and nina's affair gone on
too long?
he
needed to reassess what's important in his life, and who is important in his
life. did he love lori enough to focus all of his attention on her and learn to
love her again, or did he love her enough to, despite everything, tell her the
truth about his and nina's affair and hope that she would forgive him and give
him a second chance, or did he love her enough to tell her the truth and break
off their relationship, and confess that he still cared about her but he was in
love with nina. and nina, he hated himself for saying that it was over between
them, it could never be over between them as long as jack loved her as much as
he did now. but was it enough? did he love her enough to give up lori for her
and be there for her, did he love her as much as he had lori when they had first
got together or was it just a fling, an excitement of going behind the back of
their friends and seeing what they could get away with, did the kiss in the
classroom show everything, that they would always be hiding, checking their
backs, no, it couldn't be, something had started off their romance. did he love
nina with a consuming passion which was nearly driving him crazy when he wanted
to put his arm around her and couldn't, when he wanted to gaze into her eyes and
couldn't, when he wanted to kiss her and hold her close, and he knew he
couldn't.
eventually
jack fell asleep but he knew that there were some big decisions, which he should
have made a long time ago, which could have devastating effects, but in the end
bring him happiness...
finding
happiness
Lori
is home now and has Jack sticking close by her, Jack has also been ignoring
Nina. Nina keeps away from Jack at school, and they are blaming each other for
not making any effort to be together. Taj still loves Nina but doesn't know what
to do about it, noticing that she doesn't appear to be as happy as she used to
and spends more time with her books and music.
scene:
Nina is sat by the lake, trying to pull herself together after crying. Taj sees
her and decides to walk over and just sit next to her.
After
sitting in silence for a while...
Nina:
Taj, you don't have to be here
Taj:
i do, you aren’t happy and i'm just someone who is trying to be a friend.
Nina:
(with a slight smile) thank you Taj, i don't deserve you being nice to me, after
the way i treated you...
Taj:
don't talk about it, i still want to be friends even if i don't understand what
happened. i love you nina, its not changed how i feel, rather its shown me how
much i need you.
Nina:
not yet Taj...
Taj:
you mean with time i have a chance to win you back...?(gazing longingly into her
face)
Nina:
not now Taj...i mean i don’t know, don’t push me, i don’t know how i feel,
that’s why i need time... do you understand?
taj:
i wont answer that last question but i will give you some time.
after
a long silence Taj comes up with an idea
Taj: i know how to cheer you up, you don’t look great at the moment but as
sooon as you see Lori you can't help to feel better, she is getting through this
amazingly well, everyone is so proud of her, especially Jack, and she will love
to see you again, i think she misses your company...please come!
Nina:
i don’t know, maybe i'll be better if i just get some time alone...
Taj:
nina you have had weeks alone, speaking to hardly anyone and immersing yourself
in your books and music, come on...
after
noticing Nina draw back after that comment Taj quickly said: sorry, i didn't
mean it like that, you know i didn’t, but please come to see Lori i am sure it
will make you feel better, in fact i bet she is at home on her own now because
everyone is out at work etc. so she will appreciate our company, and we have a
free period now
after
being told that jack wouldn't be there, nina started to warm to the idea of
seeing lori and felt guilty for not going to see her sooner, it wasn't her fault
that she wasn't with jack...was it.
before
it occurred to nina that if lori wasn't around she would be with jack a smile
had crept onto her face and taj saw that as a yes and jumped up grabbing nina's
hand before remembering that they weren't together and quickly dropping it.
this
made nina smile inside that taj was starting to feel comfortable around her
again and so she decided to go and see lori to find out if she would be the cure
taj had promised she would be.
at
the scully's
Lori:
(responding to a knock at the door she replies) come in! (excited at the
prospect of an unexpected visitor.)
Taj:
(opens the door and walks over to Lori on a sofa to give her a hug) hi, how are
you doing?
Nina:
(surprised at how close taj and lori seem to have grown since the accident,
stands at the door for a moment)
Taj:
(laughing at nina says) she won’t bite and it’s not infectious so you can
come in!
Nina:
(looking slightly embarrassed at taj's comment but just about being able to
laugh it off walks over to lori) i'm sorry i haven't been for so long.
Lori:
for so long, nina i haven't seen you since the accident, have you been
hibernating? hey! i’m only joking! how are you?
Nina:
well life goes on, but i have missed you
Lori:
well you know you can come and see me at any time, i'm only just surviving
because of all the attention and visitors i'm getting! well give me a hug...
Taj:
so have you read that article on surfing yet lori?
Lori:
yes, i've read it several times, it was very interesting how that lad got back
into the sport but didn't enjoy it any more. Nina taj found an article on a lad
who had a similar accident surfing but he fully recovered and went back to the
sport only to find he didn't enjoy it the same and became a pro. basketball
player!
Nina:
wow! i love basketball what’s his name?
Lori:
James Norton
Nina:
o i don’t know him...but hey it’s a great story
Taj:
see i told you lori works cures!
Nina:
(slightly guilty at doubting taj) thank you for bringing me, the visit is well
over due and i think i've got more out of it than lori
Lori:
no i love to see people, so u play basketball, u should get into the school team
Nina:
oh no i'm not that good, i just used to play it occasionally, and i haven’t
played since i moved school
Lori:
oh come on, you’re not going to go shy on us again, especially as you are this
amazing musician and singer
Taj
seeing nina start to feel a little uncomfortable changed the subject
Taj:
where's Jack?
Lori:
oh you just missed him, he went to the library to get a book but should be back
soon, you can walk back to school together
Nina:
i better be going now actually, i told a friend i would lend her a book for
history...
Lori:
hey you can give it to her at the end of school, and you’ve only just arrived
Nina:
no i think i need to go
Taj:
well you want me to walk back with you now?
Nina:
no you stay with Lori and wait for Jack
Lori:
well i'll see you around then, but you have to promise to visit soon
Nina:
i will
then
just as she rose to leave the door opened and jack walked through...
