Jack
is asleep. God, I am so bored! This feels like I’ve been in here forever. I'm
looking at a card that Nina has sent me. How kind of her. It says:
"I'm
sorry whats happened get better soon."
That’s
just it. What if I don't get better? What if I'm stuck here forever? Doctor
Kennedy has told me that I could be paralysed forever. I don't want that. I
don't want people laughing at me. Jack has woken up.
Jack:
How are you feeling?
Lori:
Bored.
Jack:
Do you want me to find some magazines for you to read?
Lori:
No. It's okay, I think I'll have a kip.
Jack:
Okay...
Lori:
Go, I think you want to go to bed.
Jack:
I'd rather watch you.
Lori:
Please? I'm tired.
Jack:
Okay.
He
walks out of the room. I know it was harsh. But I don't want him watching over
me. Sleepy now...
So
it's morning now, and Mrs K has come in with a bunch of pansies.
Lori:
Wow thanks!
Susan:
Thought you might like to brighten up the room.
Lori:
Great!
Susan:
Do you need some rest? I'll go-
Lori:
NO! Please stay.
Susan:
Sure. Are you okay?
Lori:
I'm ok, still don't feel my legs but I will get through it.
Susan:
Good girl. You have to be strong.
Mrs
K gets up.
Lori:
Where are you going?
Susan:
I've got to get back to school. Anyway, it looks like you have a visitor.
It’s
Taj. I haven't seen him yet.
Taj:
Hey.
Lori:
Hey you! Why haven't you seen me?
Taj:
I'm sorry...
Lori:
You don't have to apologise.
Taj:
Really, I do. I chased you.
Lori:
Yes but the lifeguard distracted me.
Taj:
I guess.
Lori:

Taj:

hugs me and kisses me on the cheek.
Lori:
By the way... Thank you... for saving me.
Taj:
Well I love you- as a friend, obviously.
Lori:
I love you too.
I don't know
for sure, but I think I've got feelings for Taj. I love Jack, but I’m
confused... a lot.
I
think I'm going nuts. I can't believe I'm falling for another guy. TAJ? I
thought he was just a friend. What am I supposed to tell Jack? Oh. Joe has
walked in.
Joe:
Hey Lori. I was on my way to work and... I thought you might like to look at
this.
Joe
passes me a Scully photo album. Wow. Jack was so cute!
Lori:
How lovely!
Joe:
Yeah. That one is Jack aged three. We were having a day out on the beach. Jack
and Steph entered a sandcastle comp.
Lori:
Did they win?
Joe:
Nope and Jack wouldn't stop crying for ages.
Lori:
Lyn was pregnant?
I
notice a bump on Lyn.
Joe:
Yes. With Felicity. She gave birth a week after that.
Lori:
Aw this is lovely!
Joe:
Keep it for as long as you want, Treasure. You're part of the family now.
Am
I? Somehow I don't think so. I mean, Joe is lovely for giving me this beautiful
album, but I'm in love with Taj.

the hell am I gonna do?
Taj
I'm
watching a crappy show on TV. It is called Home and Away. There's this guy Jude
falling for another girl Shauna straight after his current girlfriend Charlotte
has had a miscarriage. I guess this is what I'm feeling like with Lori. I think
I’m in love with her. Maybe Nina was right to dump me. Maybe it was for the
best because I really love Lori. But she loves Jack. What am I going to do? How
am I going to cope? Someone has knocked on the door.
Taj:
Tahnee?
Tahnee:
Hey. Taj. I'm back from America.
Taj:
You were supposed to come back in two months.
Tahnee:
Yeah I know! The stupid family kicked me out. Said: You've been causing trouble.
Now you have to obey our rules. I didn't.
Taj:
Sounds like Tahnee! Come in.
Tahnee:
Thanks. Sooo. How’s things with Nina?
Taj;
We broke up. I don't care really.
Tahnee:
Really?
Taj;
I don't care Tahnee. I think I'm in love with someone else.

my god why did I say that? Tahnee is obviously going to make trouble now.
Tahnee:
Right. So I was wondering, could I crash here for a few days? I would go to mum
but she's a bit angry.
Taj:
Alright then. But on the couch. I'm going out.
Tahnee:
Where?
Taj:
To see Lori.
Tahnee:
Lori?
Great.

Taj:
Tahnee. Promise me you won't go in to my business.
Tahnee:
Yes. Taj. Do you mind. I'd like to watch Prisoner now.
Taj:
I'm the prisoner around here.
Tahnee:

What am I
going to do? If she tries to trick me...
I
was heading to the hospital, but I need to make a quick stop at the Scully's.
I'm worried that they will place the blame on me about the accident, and I’m
really guilty over letting Tahnee stay. I knock on the door. It's Michelle.
Michelle:
Taj. Hi.
Taj:
Hi, look can I come in?
Michelle:
Sure.
Connor:
Hi mate.
He
shakes my hand. At least he is welcoming to me. Oh my god, what is Nina doing
there? She's crying.
Taj:
What’s happened?
Connor:
Agh, just something.
Nina:
Don't worry about it...
Taj:
Look I've got some news. Tahnee's back.
Connor:
What? Well that’s great.
Michelle:
Connor! She might have changed.
Taj:
She won't. I'm just saying you should beware.
Nina:
Nooo. She's just gonna blackmail me so I'm gonna say it! I had an affair with
Jack. He broke up with me!
Taj:
What? Jack? I'm leaving...
I
don't understand. Nina was seeing Jack when she was meant to be seeing me? This
is just too much. I'm going home.
I'm
home now and Tahnee has given me a hug.
Taj:
What?
Tahnee:
Taj... there’s this top I really like down at the mall... and I was wondering
if you could buy it for me.
Taj:
No… look I’ve had a bad day and-
Tahnee:
Or I will tell everybody that you love Lori!
No.
She's doing it again. I'm the slave.
Michelle
I
miss Connor loads. The only time I got to see him was when Taj came round. Going
to see Lori today. Man, I’m scared. I absolutely hate hospitals. Poor Lori. At
the moment I'm having breakfast with Jack. He looks so upset.
Michelle:
Jack are you ok?
Jack:
I feel so guilty.
Michelle:
Jack how can Lori’s accident be your fault-
Jack:
I'm not talking about that.
Okay...
so what then? Ooh he’s gonna tell me a major secret...
Michelle:
Tell me.
Jack:
Here goes. I had a secret… kind of affair...
Michelle:

I can't
believe it. She was supposed to be Lori's friend the cow!
I've
knocked on Nina's door. She's opened it. I slap her straight away.
Michelle:

Nina:

tried to shut the door- but I got in.
Michelle:
You went behind everyone’s back and slept with Jack!
Nina:
We didn't...
She
hesitates.
Michelle:
You're going to get what’s coming to you.
Nina:
Get out of my house.
Michelle:
Lori is my friend she was supposed to be yours until you turned in to a BLEEP.
Nina
pushed me against the wall. I stood up and looked in the mirror. I had a bad cut
on my forehead... I punched her.
Nina:
Get off!
She
pulled a big chunk of hair out!
Michelle:
You little...
Jack:
STOP!
Jack
I
love Lori. But I'm in love with Nina. I knew it was stupid to break up with
Nina. But I guess we were never together. But, I'm just so drawn to her. When I
see her, its like... she’s an angel fallen from heaven. I'm fantasizing about
her right now. I don't know what I'm doing. I'm leaning on the Heather Street
sign. Nina is just a second away. Nina... I have to go to her...
I'm
now at her house. I knock on the door. But what am I going to say?
She's
opened the door... after that fight she had with Michelle, she's got a huge cute
under her eye.
Jack:
Oh my God are you ok?
Nina:
What are you doing here?
Jack:
I want to be with you not Lori.
Nina:
You said that before...
I
come closely to her, I hold her hand and we slowly kiss. I've never felt this
guilty for ages. Once we stop, I put a warm flannel on her cut.
Jack:
All better.
Nina:
Thankyou Jack. I need you...
Jack: And we
will be together!
I'm
still at Nina's. In the middle of the night. I'm in her bed, and as we are
cuddling, I think about Michelle. How can I speak to her again? She beat up the
love of my life. My sister! Little Chelly. Oh my God! She's gonna tell Lori!
Jack:
Nina.
She
wakes up.
Nina:
What's wrong?
Jack:
I think Michelle is going to tell Lori.
Nina:
About us? Oh no.
Jack:
I have to get back to make sure she hasn't.
Nina:
Good luck. I love you!
I
walk out the door not responding. I run and run. Woah. I'm home now. Everyone is
asleep. I rush to her room. Oh my God. Connor? I thought they broke up!
Michelle:
Don't you knock?
Connor:
Push off Jack, I need some Chelle loving.
Jack:
Did you tell Lori?
Michelle:
About you and...
Jack:
Yes.
Michelle:
Yes I did. And she's upset.
She
wouldn't. My own sister.
Nina
Why
hasn't jack come back yet? He's been gone for an hour. I'm waiting in the dining
room eating a bar of chocolate, even though its 4 am. I miss him. Maybe he's
gone to the hospital. Or maybe he's avoiding me. I try to phone his mobile. He
answered it, but all I could hear was breathing.
Nina:
Jack? Where are you?
There
was a silence.
Nina:
What’s wrong.
I
realised.
Nina:
It is Michelle.. she has told Lori...
He
hung up. I buried my head in to my arms, crying. After 15 minutes I was still
crying. I had tears on my sleeves. I went to my room and changed in to my winnie
pyjamas. When I wear them, I feel happy. Not this time. There is a knock on the
door. It is Taj.
Nina:
Taj? What is it?
Taj:
I can't believe you cheated on me.
Nina:
Taj, its late. I will speak to you in the morning.
Taj:
NOW.
Nina:
But you don't love me anymore.
Taj:
True, I hate you, which is why I'm doing this.
He
grabbed hold of me , took me upstairs and hung me off the balcony.
Nina:
Stop! Help! Jack!
He
shoved some kind of injection in me...
I
wake up tied to a chair. Taj is sitting on the sofa staring at me.
Nina:
Taj...?
I
feel faint and weird.
Taj:
Oh my god why am I doing this?
He
goes and unties me.
Taj:
I'm sorry... I'm so out of line.
Nina:
Wuh...
I
can't even speak.
Taj:
I wanted to talk to you. I know about Jack. I wanted you all to myself. I am so
sorry. You can even tell the police.
I
feel like I’m gonna fade away.
Taj:
Nina are you ok?
Nina:
The... need...le.
I
struggle to speak.
Taj:
I found it in the hospital when I was visiting Lori.
Nina:
I need... help.
Taj
looked panicked. He picked me up and ran in to his mum’s car. He drove to the
hospital. He stopped.
Taj:
Nina. Tell them that I did this.
He
took me inside and dropped me on the floor. He rushed outside and the
receptionist came to my aid.
Receptionist:
Help! We need help here!
Slowly
I felt myself drifting away...
I've
woken up now, and the person who I thought would look over me isn't there.
Instead it’s Lori...
Lori:
You... you slept with Jack.
I
feel really weird and faint.
Nina:
You know?
It
isn't surprising.
Lori:
I know and you're gonna pay. You know how much I love Jack, how could you? How
long has it been going on for, months?
I
got out of my bed feeling a bit dizzy but I tried.
Lori:
She can't even stand ha ha!
Nina:
Why don't you have another accident?
Lori
punched me, but I could still stand. I felt the blood on my lip.
Nina:
Oh push off, I had enough of this from Michelle.
Lori:
Well miss wart tart yer gonna get more.
I
laugh at her.
Nina:
You in that wheel chair?
Lori:
Shut up!
She
stood up out of her chair and pushed me so I banged my head. She could walk!
Lori: Cool. Bye sucker!
