About

Nene Bowmen were formed in 1966 for the practice and promotion of ARCHERY.

Outdoor shooting is available to members throughout the year and takes place at Ferry Meadows in the Nene Country Park, situated on the A605 Peterborough to Oundle road.  The area used by the club is Oak meadow, situated opposite the Water sports centre at Gunwade Lake.

Indoor shooting is also available during the winter months in the Waterville Gym at Orton Longueville School.

Courses of instruction for beginners are available on Wednesday evenings at Ferry Meadows in summer and at Orion Longueville School on Thursday evenings during the winter months.

Each course consists of six lessons held on consecutive weeks; juniors over the age of nine are permitted to enroll provided they are accompanied, on each session by a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must sign the enrolment form to confirm agreement.  The club provides equipment during the period of instruction on the understanding that it will not be taken away and will only be used when under instruction from a coach or an established archer.

A course fee must be paid before any instruction is given (Insurance policy clause) Continuation

If after the completion of the course, the beginner wishes to ‘take up the sport of archery, a membership application form must be completed for submission to the clubs’ management committee. If the membership is approved and upon payment of the appropriate membership fee, club equipment will be available for a further six weeks, after which the new member will be expected to purchase his/her own equipment. Advice is available to help with suitable selection.

Safety is of paramount importance to both sport and club and must be observed at all times
