Current Position: September 2007 – Present: Biostatistical Programming Manager, Amgen Inc. Main duties include:

Previous Positions:
September 2004 – September 2007: Senior Biostatistical Programmer/Analyst, Amgen Inc. Main duties include:
- Programming listings, tables and graphs of data from clinical databases using shells and SAPs (in SAS)
- Following various Standard Operating Procedures and Working Practice Documents in all aspects of work.
- Carrying out QC checks on output and SAS programs
September 2003 – August 2004: Systems Analyst, eResearch Technology Main duties included:
- Processing ECG and Holter data from several different database systems (paper based and electronnic capture) for inclusion in client study data.
- Creating derived datasets, ASCII files or other data formats based on client specifications
- Liaise with clients to create data file specifications that will make integration of ECG data with their database as easy as possible
- Assist Data Management in the extraction of data from the study databases, and help with data cleaning
November 2001 – August 2003 (Redundancy): Statistical Programmer, PRA International (Previously CroMedica Ltd). Main duties included:
- Creation of appropriate computer code for evaluation of clinical trial data

August 1998 - October 2001: Statistics Programmer, PPD Development Main duties included:
- Assisting in the creation of listing, table and graph shells for Statistical Analysis Plans
- Programming listings, tables and graphs of data from clinical databases using shells and SAPs (in SAS)
- Following various Standard Operating Procedures and Working Practice Documents in all aspects of work

May 1997 - August 1998: Clinical Data Processor, Ethical Pharmaceuticals. In May 1997 the Clinical Data Management Department was reorganised due to a change in the nature of the workload. This position was created from a mixture of Quality Control Officer and Statistician, and duties included:
- Running database verification programs to compile first and second data entry files, and creating and running export programs to create data files from the verified files.
- Create import programs within the SAS system to create data sets from raw data files and ORACLE tables
- Write programs in SAS to present the data sets in report form (data listings)
- Carrying out QC checks of data listings against source data
- Checking of tables, figures and statistics generated from the data listings
- Coding of adverse events and medical histories using the MEDDRA system (Microsoft Fox Pro database)
- Writing, editing and maintaining departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Filing and archiving
April 1996 - May 1997:Quality Control Officer, Ethical Pharmaceuticals. Responsibilities included quality control checks on data listings, tables, graphs as well as carrying out audits on clinical study reports.
April 1995 - March 1996:Quality Assurance Officer, Ethical Pharmaceuticals. Was responsible for checking laboratory reports, gas chromatography and dissolution printouts and carrying out audits on skin permeation and formulation laboratories.
Vacation Work/Temporary Contracts: January - April 1995: Temporary Clinical Supplies Assistant, Ethical Pharmaceuticals. Duties included packaging of transdermal devices and tablets, labelling according to randomisation schedules and cleaning in a controlled “clean room” environment.
November - December 1994: Temporary Casual Revenue Assistant, Ely Tax Office. Main duties included routine administration, filing and archiving.
Summer Holidays 1993 & 1994: Worked full time on a local farm crop harvesting. This consisted of manual labour, cleaning of equipment and driving of farm machinery.
APPLICATION EXPERIENCEI have a good working knowledge of the following bespoke/standard business applications:
- SAS V8.2/V6.12 - Writing programs for importing database files, report generation and the creation of summary tables and graphs using SAS BASE, MACRO, GRAPH and the Output Delivery System. Also installation of SAS products.

In my free time i play the electric guitar in a local rock band, and am involved in writing & recording songs, along with live performances.
Other hobbies include walking, cycling and swimming. I have studied martial arts and hold several belts in Ninjitsu and Shotokan Karate
I am registered with the Open University and began my first course in February 2000, which will be counted toward a BSc in Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
