I have been up to Welney a few times for the Dark-breasted Barn Owl and though I have now seen it I have not managed any pictures of it, yesterday (15th Feb 03) this Barn owl was performing very well away from the main crowd of birders so I concentrated my efforts on getting shots of it.

Mostly it was hunting so I used the car as a mobile hide, moving ahead of the bird and photographing it as it flew towards me, then luck smiled on me 'big time' and the Owl perched on a fence post about 18 feet away, all very briefly but long enough to get about 25 full frame images. With luck shining on me like that I went and bought a lottery ticket......and wasted £3-00, proving that you can only be lucky once a day!
