David Hutchins 24h Cyclothon

Well, I made it. No great mileage but I hung on in there.

About 02.00am whilst I was taking a break, Don Ashton tested the machine and thought that the resistance was much higher than indicated.

He found that the pressure on the back tyre was too high, changed it and immediately my average speed went up by some 3 miles per hour!!

The other negative was the extreme heat whilst the sun was shining through the roof. Luckily it was cloudy on Saturday.

The result was 320 miles so it something for someone to beat!!!!!

One interesting thing was that my weight when I got home was 9lb higher than when I had left. Obviously I was absorbing the water. This morning it was 5lb lower than at the start so in fact I was holding about 14lb water. Shows how difficult it is to judge hydration levels. No other side effects other than a sore backside!

Regards,

David
