This is my Chinese compound microscope. It has magnifications from 50-1,250X, though I'm more concerned with the lower end of the scale.
(Unless stated all photos were taken using my 2MP camera phone.)
Thid is a seed from a Maple tree, called an Achene.
Fern leaf,about 500X
I took a leaf from my Nephrolepis (Boston Fern), and viewed it under the scope at 125X. I then zoomed the camera to 4X to show the stomata better.(125X4 = 500)These are the pores through which plants release their Oygen.
Fern sori,125X
Ferns do not produce flowers, instead they produce spores from sori, found on the undersides of the leaves.These spores are finer than flower pollen and give rise to tiny embryonic fern plants.

And here I used the 40X objective, giving 500X with the 12.5X eyepiece.

On the other side of the leaf there were lots of tiny spores, which had burst out of the sori, at left.
