 Blockbuster Xmas Party 03

I have long been interested in astronomy and have made many attempts to capture the night sky on film. Unfortunately I only have a small scope(An Opticron 3 inch spotting scope) but most photographs are taken straight through the camera, as to get photos thru a scope requires a clock drive to move the scope in order to counter the earth's rotation. I use the scope for viewing only.

Lunar Eclipse-August 1989

I had no film in my camera at the time and so I made sketches showing the stages of eclipse.

Orion's Belt

This is a fixed camera shot with an exposure of around 4-8 seconds on colour film. I used the Canon camera with its 75-300 at around 200mm.

Picture title - date

Here I could describe what this picture is about and why I have chosen this one

Pleiades (M45)

This was originally photographed on colour film but it went unprinted by the processor. I wanted to see if I had been successful and so I printed the negative myself at college. Exposure was about 8 seconds on 200 ASA colour film, 75-300 zoom at f5.6.Slightly enlarged at printing.

Comet Hale-Bopp, 1996

This was spotted from an upstairs window in my mom's house and photographed with a standard zoom(28-70). It was quite a bright comet and presented fantastic views through my small scope!

Moonshot

This was taken through the eyepiece of the above scope, using my Sony Ericsson W800i phone.
